Congressional Democrat Candidate Dave Min Accused Of Attempting To Silence Republican Opponent Over ‘Soft-On-Crime” Voting Record

“Mr. Min can run from his record, and he can hire lawyers to send threatening letters to stifle debate about his record, but Mr. Min cannot hide from his record,” Scott Baugh said in a news release.

California Democrat Dave Min allegedly sent hired individuals to deliver a cease-and-desist letter to Republican Scott Baugh on Thursday demanding that he stop spreading information about Min’s “soft-on-crime” voting record as the two battle for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Mr. Min can run from his record, and he can hire lawyers to send threatening letters to stifle debate about his record, but Mr. Min cannot hide from his record,” Baugh said in a news release. “I’ll see to it that the voters know that Mr. Min is part of a progressive movement in this country that chooses coddling criminals over safety in our neighborhoods, and it must end.”

Min and Baugh are in the final stretch of a heated election season for outgoing Rep. Katie Porter’s (D-Calif.) seat in the 47th Congressional District. The race has been marked as one of the most competitive national races that could shape which party controls the lower chamber of Congress next year.

Baugh. a former Republican Assemblyman, has not shied away from using social media to showcase Min’s voting record, which he says “has consistently stood with criminals over victims.”

“Mr. Min’s record is clear and awful,” Baugh said. “It has led to an increase in crime in our communities, a loss of respect for law enforcement officers, and a culture of pro-criminal policies that he has finally figured out don’t bode well for his campaign.”

The Republican candidate has condemned Min for supporting controversial policies, such as voting for “no-cash” bail that effectively set bail for criminals at $0.00.

Baugh also slammed Min for “suppressing criminal records for people who commit felonies” and supporting “efforts to make it more difficult for police to investigate sex crimes, including sex crimes with minors.”

Min, who has been a member of the California State Senate since 2020, has been facing an uphill battle to run a strong campaign after a run-in with the law last year when police arrested him for driving under the influence

He advanced to the general election in early March after his opponent, Democrat political activist and first-time candidate Joanna Weiss, conceded. Min defeated Weiss by only 6 points, signaling a narrow victory following his run-in with the law.

National Republicans have called on voters to “rightfully” judge Min for his past behavior,

Ben Petersen, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), sounded the alarm about Min in a news release for co-signing with the “Socialist Squad’s” dangerous voting record against local law enforcement and stronger border security,

“With this move, Min is screaming to Orange County families just how extreme he would be in Congress,” Petersen said.

Petersen also criticized Min for supporting Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as the Democrats’ pick for Vice President, which he dubbed the Harris-Walz ticket as “the most extreme left-wing ticket in American history.”

“Kamala Harris, Tim Walz and Dave Min are running as the most left-wing radical ticket in American history,” Petersen said in a news release. “Min will work under the Harris-Walz banner to unleash crime and border chaos on Orange County families while allowing skyrocketing costs to put the American Dream further out of reach.”
