Twitter is one the worlds largest and most buzzing social media platforms out there, and Elon Musk now owns it. Elon Musk is an American Industrial Engineer and Entrepreneur who has shocked the world with his accomplishments and career. Musk is one of the top billionaires in the world and has earned plenty of fame and recognition throughout his career.

There has been plenty of controversy surrounding the change in ownership and the political climate is changing drastically because of it. Twitter has a reputation for alleged censorship in the past and this has caused a lot of problems within the media. Musk seemingly plans to make improvements to the ongoing censorship stating his goal with Twitter is to promote a “public platform that is maximally trusted and broadly inclusive.”

Many left-wing activists and personalities have expressed concern within the new ownership. However, Musk has made it clear that Twitter must be “politically neutral” to maximize success within the platform. In a tweet from April 27th, Musk says “For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and the far left equally.” Even after making these statements, Twitter has had a wave of account deletions from left-wing personalities who are not happy with the ownership change.

The difference in reactions from the left and the right has been made clear, as conservatives see it as a victory for free speech in America, and Liberals have expressed their concerns for a possible spread of misinformation. Musk has stated that he plans to reconstruct how Twitter monitors content in an attempt to battle censorship in social media which has left-wing activists worried that this could potentially change the way Twitter works as a whole, specifically on the political side of the platform.

Will Twitter be changed forever? This continues to be the heated question of the month, as social media and news networks continue the ongoing conversation about this sudden change in ownership.
